About Us
The family story behind PlotPlanner and FlockPlanner — free tools built by people who actually grow and raise things.
Our Story

PlotPlanner and FlockPlanner are family projects that we built to help our fellow homesteaders with planning out our seasonal harvests. Especially when we were starting out, every year felt like wave after wave of work that we were just trying to keep up with. We just wanted a tool that would help us plan out the entire season with every consideration in mind.
As a military family, we've experienced a wide range of climates and challenges, and we understand what it's like to be a beginner (over and over again!). We hope these tools will help you on your journey, whether you are just starting out or taking your homesteading to the next level.

What We Do
Two tools, one yard. PlotPlanner handles the green half:
USDA Zone Lookup
Enter your ZIP and get your hardiness zone, frost dates, and growing season instantly.
Zone-Matched Plants
We only show plants that actually grow where you live — no wasted seeds.
Cost & Yield Estimates
See what your garden will cost and how much it could yield before you plant a thing.
Free Printable Grow Guide
Get a personalized PDF planting calendar you can actually take to the garden.
And for the feathered half of the yard, we built FlockPlanner — tell it your egg goal and it recommends the right breeds, calculates hen count, coop size, and feed costs. Gardens and chickens go together; so do these two sites.
The People Behind the Plot
West
Founder & Lead Grower
West is the tactical hands behind the harvest. With a background in strength training and a passion for Pater Familias heritage, he focuses on high-yield, high-protein homesteading for the modern family man. He built PlotPlanner to provide the data-driven tools he wished he had when he first started tearing up his backyard. Practical, direct, and driven by real-world survival skills.
Jenna
Chief Design Officer & Garden Editor
Jenna is the creative engine behind PlotPlanner. A specialist in small-space garden aesthetics and companion planting, she obsesses over making sustainability look as good as it tastes. When she's not optimizing zone-specific planting calendars, she's usually experimenting with heritage seeds and vertical garden structures. Her mission: making every square foot count.
